If you've decided to start growing cannabis for the first time, don't buy whatever you get from the Nutrients section.

Ok, you've decided to start growing cannabis for the first time, trying to find the best nutrients for your setup can be very annoying. There are many companies that make nutrients, each making multiple lines of nutrients and supplements for a variety of purposes.

You won't find a golden grail ... it's just that the head hurts and every producer comes up with something super new and innovative every now and then, only the same is packed differently.

As a grower, your goal is to provide your plants with the right amount of nutrients at the right time. There are two main stages in the life of our special plants (the vegetative phase and the flowering phase). Each stage has different nutritional requirements. Fortunately, many nutrient companies make great products, even though they all use different formulas and techniques. Here's how they differ:

Nutrient Indicators - Each brand has different nutrient ratios which they consider optimal for each stage of growth.

Ingredients - There are many different combinations of chemical and organic compounds that give the same nutrient ratio. Each relationship reacts differently to itself. This means that you can see two nutrient bottles on the bottle with exactly the same NPK ratios, but they will provide a slightly different level of nutrient to the plants. The ingredients determine whether a nutrient is considered organic or synthetic.

Designed for soil or water - it is very important to match the substrate with the nutrients. The nutrients of "soil" are different from those of "hydroponics", so make sure you are getting the right type! Coconut fiber is generally considered a type of hydroponics when it comes to nutrients, although there are also nutrients specifically designed for coconut fiber. Typically, hydroponic nutrients contain everything the plant needs to grow and can be used in any growing medium.

Important tips for supplements.

Don't confuse supplements with nutrients. If the NPK ratios printed on the front of the bottle are really low (e.g. 0.2-0.2-0.1), this means that this product is a supplement of some sort. Essential nutrients provide all the necessary NPK and micronutrients for healthy growth, so supplements aren't necessary for plants to thrive. Some supplements are helpful, but overdoing it can cause unwanted reactions or burn the plant down. Sometimes less is better, too much combining always results in bruising the butt and linden in the box. It is a pity for bushes, time and money.

Use the same brand of nutrients and supplements to minimize unexpected interactions. Combining nutrients and supplements from different companies significantly increases the chance of unhappy plants! It's also a good idea to only add one new supplement at a time and watch how your plants react before adding anything new or different. If this is your first crop, try picking only one or two of the supplements you like. It is easy to overdo it. Slowly ... because in a hurry 99% of breeders fell out: D
